Communism: from each according to his ability to each according to his need is in the bible In the book of Acts
Acts 4:34 Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,
Acts 4:35 And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.
Acts 5:1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,
Acts 5:2 And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it, at the apostles' feet.
Capitalism is also there: If any should not work he should not eat.
The second book of Thessalonians.
2 Th 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
2 Th 3:11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
Neither works well: but capitalism is better than communism because it best fits the basic nature of man. We are motivated by greed and fear. Greed makes us want, and fear of loosing makes us put up with laws. It is na‹ve to think that a corporate leader will not act with more greed. They have less fear because they are used to manipulating things to their advantage.
The best system we have on earth is the law. If the IRS would have been doing their job, Enron and Worldcom would not have happened. Corporations bought off the IRS because they could. Instead of worrying about adults that just take, take, take, we need to make sure our fear causes us to keep the law in place. The only thing that made Capitalism good in the United States of America is the fact that it was kept in check by labor unions. Global Capitalism is a bad thing if its greed is not kept in check.
Democracy comes from a Greek word, Republic comes from a French word, so they actually mean the same thing. I like to make the following distinction.
Democracy – A government by the people and for the people where majority rules.
Republic - A government by the people and for the people where majority rules but a Constitution sets the guidelines for permissible actions.
Just because everyone wants to do something does no make it right. God gave the TEN Commandments and man is spending the rest of history trying to get around them. The United States of America has a great Constitution and politicians and citizens are constantly trying to get around it.
Because of the nature of man, checks and balances are always needed. A government with an Executive, a Legislative, and a Judicial branch is stable like a three legged stool. But just like a three legged stool it will fall if the weight is not distributed evenly.
